Discover the journey of the Marimex president in an interview with Porto & Gente

From April 22nd to 24th, Marimex participated in the 28th edition of Intermodal South America, the largest and most comprehensive event in Latin America dedicated to logistics, intralogistics, technology, cargo transport, and foreign trade sectors.

On February 2nd, the Port of Santos celebrated 133 years of development and achievements. The region's port sector is directly linked to significant events in Brazilian history, and in observance of Foreign Trade Day (January 28th) and its historical context, the Industry and Port Meeting spoke with Antônio Carlos Fonseca Cristiano, known as Caio, president of Marimex. The businessman shared his insights on the significant transformations that have marked the area since he began his career in 1977, driven by technological advancements, regulatory changes, and logistical challenges. The interview was conducted on January 24th for Integração 5.0, the new communication channel of the Industry and Port Meeting on YouTube. The event, conceived by Wordcom Brasil, brings together specialists and authorities from major companies in the sector to discuss the present and future of port activity in Brazil.

The New Import Process (NPI) is a regulatory initiative aimed at ensuring greater transparency, streamlining procedures, and reducing bureaucracy related to international standards and public interventions. The objective is to integrate foreign trade operators by restructuring processes. Among the significant changes implemented by the NPI are innovations in the modules of the new Single Import Declaration (DUIMP) and the Licenses, Permits, Certificates, and Other Documents (LPCO) module, which optimize import stages.

Marimex took a significant step towards sustainability by becoming a signatory of the UN Global Compact and signing the ESG Manifesto, solidifying its socio-environmental commitment. During a lecture for employees, Fábio Tatsubô, head of Depods at Santos City Hall, emphasized the urgency of effective actions to combat climate change. He reinforced the importance of port companies as agents of positive impact. Santos stood out in the 2024 Sustainability Ranking, strengthening its leadership in ESG practices. Marimex takes on new responsibilities, aligning itself with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On August 8th and 9th, the Sheraton Hotel in Santos hosted the VIII Brazilian Congress of Maritime and Port Law, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Maritime Law (ABDM) in partnership with Santa Cecília Communication System and Unisanta. Crucial topics, such as the collection of property tax (IPTU) on infrastructure concessions, were highlights of the event, which brought together various industry authorities to discuss these issues.

9th-grade students from municipal schools in Santos and São Vicente are getting the opportunity to visit the Marimex logistics terminal through the “Getting to Know Port Professions” project, developed by the company itself. The initiative aims to showcase the opportunities offered by the Port of Santos, encouraging young people to reflect on their life plans.

Marimex will build a new port terminal in the Valongo region of Santos, between Martins Fontes and Engenheiro Augusto Barata avenues. The main reason for this move is the construction of a railway loop at the site where the company's Bonded Terminal is currently located. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
